All About My Father

Kleines BALi, 13:30 h

In the short film program ALL ABOUT MY FATHER, the filmmakers remember their own personal family history through fragmentation. It is also about urban politics, resistance, care and reproduction work of women, and in the end, dealing with death. Three different portraits about similar relationships with fathers and grandfathers, and the recognition that harmony in the family remains an unattainable construct and a myth.

This Is the Man Fu

This Is the Man Fu

The film THIS IS THE MAN FU is a dense portrait about the relationship between a daughter and her father. Tse Man Fu collapsed at home and his daughter, the filmmaker, documents the entire process of him receiving treatment. The film takes a new look at the divorced parents, the stubborn grandmother and how the three-generation family has been living together.

The Pier [Like Mending Glass]

The Pier [Like Mending Glass]

The filmmaker’s grandfather, suffering from Alzheimer’s, remembers obsessively an episode from his youth: a young woman climbs over the railing of the pier and jumps into the water and he saves her. The old man’s remembering and speech becomes more confused while the daughters of the father repeat the stories over and over again. The filmmaker reconstructs the scene by casting a young woman who re-enacts the scene.
