Körpersprache

Großes BALi, 00:00 h

The body is the gestalt of a living being. Its impact, its manner, its interior and its morphology are addressed without taboo in eight short films. Norms and values are questioned, human and animal conduct is pointed out and ideals are created. Partly critical, partly ironically exaggerated, we are shown what we are made of, how we define ourselves, what we influence and what we supress.

Paralanguage

Paralanguage

We are surrounded by sounds all the time. PARALANGUAGE generates playfully association through the combination of Image and Sound with the result of a disturbing or on the contrary, a pleasant feeling.

Black with a Luminous Edge

Black with a Luminous Edge

The artistic work BLACK WITH A LUMINOUS EDGE arose from a nude photo shooting in a conventional photo studio. There is nothing to see apart from the English subtitles. The film consists of an original conversation between the photographer and the nude model. Male domination is the paradigm for all domination. It has filtered through to the art world as a universal principle of seeing. What is sexy, what isn’t? What posture must a women assume to ensure a ‘beautiful’ picture of herself? What clichés are there? What happens when a woman can’t or won’t take on the stereotypically sexy pose?

Manly Mountain of Men

Manly Mountain of Men

MANLY MOUNTAIN OF MEN is about celebrating the male body and the opportunity to move freely. Where women nowadays take new and different seats, men seem to remain static. In this short film three men are representing the courage to be different. They are flirting with the audience, dancing proudly and enjoying the show.

Arms

Arms

The right to own and use a gun for self-protection is a widespread and politically influential opinion in the USA, largely due to the work of lobby organisations such as the National Rifle Association, with its approximately 5 million members. ARMS shows us how women in a patriarchal system are supposed to be transformed into confident individuals through the use of a gun. It gives us a sense of the manipulations that have led to weapons becoming a fetish of American society.

Hairness

Hairness

Bodies we are, and bodies are around us. They come into being, and we shape their surfaces. Hair is always growing. There, not here, over there even more. A walk through structures, fields, their relation, and our intervention.

Impermanence of Being

Impermanence of Being

Exploring the experience of feeling the present moment. “Many dimensions of the reality of the human existence - art, ethics, spirituality, kindness, beauty and above all, conscience - are atributed to the chemical reactions of our neurons or they are only considered manifestations of imaginary constructions. The danger lies on reducing humans in nothing more than biological machines.” Dalai Lama

An Ode to Vaginismus

An Ode to Vaginismus

Hailing from India, poet Divya Dureja breaks her silence on topics of societal shame and pain faced by women world over. Her poem ‘An Ode to Vaginismus’ is an attempt at sharing the difficulties she and many other women like her face while navigating their sexuality and sexual expression. The narrative of her performance piece is built around her experiences of living with a debilitating female sexual dysfunction, which goes undiagnosed for many women world over, and one which is not discussed openly in the public sphere. By defying personal inhibitions, she succeeds in pulling in the spectator to an intimate space and creates a powerful emotional awareness of this condition. Divya’s revelatory piece represents a new angle of femininity marked by fearlessness, nobility and pride.

Nostalgic Love

Nostalgic Love

Love at an older age, sexuality and pulsing intimacy between elderly people is a rare topic in today’s media. I asked myself, why it’s not being addressed, whereas sexual expression and hopefully sexual freedom is constantly on the rise? Why is love at a certain age socially accepted when it’s caring and devoted but not when it’s impulsive and wild? With Nostalgic Love I wanted to bring teenage needs and feelings back to an older age and show an unconventional love story without restraint. A story about lovers who missed each other at a certain point in life and trying to regain what has passed by. The film also asks how the way of falling in love has changed between my generation and older generations. Are we more inattentive and indecisive than they were when it comes to love?
